The Incipio Security Case adds security and convenience to Microsoft Surface Pro 4 through a protective and versatile design. The case includes an integrated smart card reader developed by Identiv to help simplify logins and prevent unauthorized access to data on devices or private networks. The TAA-compliant reader is used by military, government, and private sector employees who require daily access to secure systems. Common Access Card (CAC) or smart card readers are used as a communications medium between the smart card and a host in secure systems such as those used by government, banking, and healthcare.
The Incipio Security Case delivers reliable protection in a sturdy, durable design. The case is composed of a rigid hard-shell fused with shock-absorbing TPU providing double the defense in one slim design. Living hinge technology allows full compatibility with the Surface kickstand and it remains fully compatible with the Surface Pro 4 Type Cover keyboard whether open or closed.
“When deciding on a partner to provide the smart card reader technology for our Incipio Security Case, Identiv was the clear winner,” said Carlos del Toro, Incipio Director of Product Management. “Identiv’s uTrust 2500 R Contact Smart Card Reader Module provides the high-security integration necessary for this product to be successful.”
Identiv’s uTrust Contact Smart Card Reader Module is the ideal design for a wide range of embedded applications. Providing full compliance with all major industry standards — including ISO/IEC 7816, USB CCID, PC/SC, and Microsoft WHQL — uTrust 2500 R and 2500 F work seamlessly with virtually all contact smart cards and PC operating systems. Full support and compliance to EMV 2011 and GSA FIPS 201 expands daily use to very specific applications requiring additional security and data protection. The modules feature easy and complete support for all major contact smart cards.
“Identiv’s uTrust 2500 R represents the perfect mix of performance with compact design, providing convenience, transaction-time efficiency, security, and reliability for embedded applications, like the Incipio Security Case,” said Louis Modell, Identiv Vice President of Sales, Americas and EMEA, Smart Card Readers, and OEM Channel. “As the reader module is EMV L1 compliant and GSA FIPS 201 certified, it is also ideal for smart metering, vending and dispensing machines, printers, payment devices, e-service kiosks, and high-security use cases for federal governments.”
